The Clan Restaurant, Bukit Pasoh Road

The Clan Restaurant, Bukit Pasoh Road

The Clan is found along Bukit Pasoh Road, and it can't be missed with its big signage outside the restaurant. They have 2 levels of dining areas and most people opt for their set menu as they are very value for money! We went for their 6 course dinner that is priced at $69.80++. A 5 course set lunch is also available at $49.80++ with it excluding the Cold Dish from the menu(extracted from their website):

We were served with a lime sorbet first to start off the meal, which whet our appetite for the dinner ahead! It was very cold & refreshing as we popped the shot into our mouths.

The Chef Starter that we were presented with consist of a Pan Seared Scallop with truffle foam, Foie Gras Chawanmushi & a Prawn Sushi. Items may vary from time to time, depending on the kitchen :) The scallop foam/sauce was very tasty! I have also discovered that the flavor of foie gras worked very well with eggs? The creamy Chawanmushi was a great pairing to the taste of foie gras. Prawn sushi was ordinary, but the sesame seeds did bring out the taste of sushi rice very well.

For the Cold Dishes, we picked the Beef Carpaccio with truffle teriyaki & horse radish sauce and Alaskan King Crab with Seasonal Greens in homemade karashi dressing. The beef carpaccio was smooth & fresh, while the Alaskan long crab meat was full of sweetness!!

For the side dishes, we picked the herb crusted mushroom escargot and kurobuta pork belly confit with pork cracker & passion fruit sauce. The escargots were fat and juicy, enhanced with a very herby flavor! Too herby for me haha. As for the pork belly, it was meaty and did not have as much fat as I had expected. But no complains about that! The meat was soft and tender, just the way I like it. Both of us also had the mushroom soup with truffle paste. Soup was filled with bits of mushroom, giving it a lot of texture to this soup. Super good!

The signature main at The Clan would be the Prime Beef Short Ribs on hoba leaf with peppercorn sauce on lava stone, which explains the choice for us. It was a stylish dish which looked interestingly fun as the meat came sizzling hot on a leaf - how cute! We could decide on how well done we would like our meat to be, based on the time that it is left on the stone. If you like it to be more rare, just move the meat to the sides! I prefer my meat to be more well done, hence I just left my meat on the stone as I eat. It was very slightly seasoned, and hence the peppercorn sauce was great as a dip. Meat was beautifully marbled and extremely tender!

We ended our meal with the chocolate lava cake with home made gelato and their cheesecakes with pistachio. There was nothing spectacular about the desserts here but still a pleasant ending to the meal!

Do consider The Clan to be a place for small celebrations or family gatherings with its pocket friendly pricing!
